5. Trevor Hoffman
BQ: Do all the steroid users nowadays (Bonds, Sosa, Rodriguez, Piazza, I. Rodriguez, Giambi, Canseco, etc.) sort of make you wish that Joe Jackson and Pete Rose were in the Hall of Fame? Or that guys like Ron Santo and Gil Hodges should be in Cooperstown?

Baseball Writers Do All The Voting In Baseball. I Think They Suck At It. You?

No hall of fame for Ron Santo, Bert Blyleven, Gil Hodges, Roger Maris, Thurmon Munson, Tommy John -- need I go on? MVP voting based on who they like (as if they're girls or something) and usually there is a racial bias (as in Rickey Henderson, Bill Matlock, the Indian with 50 Ds and 50 HRs). The same with all the awards. They are the only ones who think they do well. Any alternative solutions?

Do You Think Ron Santo Belongs In The Hall Of Fame??

Most definitely. He was a far superior hitter to B. Robinson, and that is more valuable than defense. On the other side, he was a great glove with good range.
Santo suffers from playing for the Cubs and an unfair comparison to Brooks Robinson.

Do You Think Ron Santo Should Be In The Hall Of Fame?

I have been a Cub's fan since 5th grade and always admired the commentary of Ron Santo so I looked up his career stats.
All-star 1963-1966, 1968, 1969, 1971-1973
1973 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award
Gold Glove 1964-1968
Led NL in On-base % in 1964 with .398 and 1966 with .412
Led NL in triples in 1964 with 13
Career stats (3rd baseman)
AVG .277
RBI 1,331
HITS 2,254
HR 342
Phil Rizzuto (HALL OF FAMER)
AVG .273
HITS 1588
HR 38
RBI 562
All-Star (AL): 1942, 1950-1953
American League Most Valuable Player: 1950
Babe Ruth Award: 1951
1949-1953: Led the league in sacrifice hits
1950: Led A.L. shortstops in fielding (.982)
1950: Led the league in singles (150)
Look at Santo's stats then at Rizzuto's if Rizzuto made it then Santo should.
does anyone disagree???
