Ron Santo is a loved public figure here in Chicago and is an admired baseball player around the world. His career numbers are good enough to put him beside his peers in Major League Baseball’s Hall of Fame.
Please sign the petition below and let the 60+ members of the Veteran Committee know that Ron Santo belongs in Major League Baseball’s Hall of Fame. This form will send an email to all of the members of the Veteran Committee letting them know where you stand.
Ron was the best. I grew up and really started following the cubs ( and disliking the cards) about the time he retired. Ron deserves to in the hall. Every time I see the veterans commite vote announcement I pray that he will be on the list. The numbers speak for themself’s and realize how bad the cubs were back then. I hope that I live to see the day when two of the greatest Cubs (Ernie being the other one) are both in the hall together.
Ron Santo belongs in the baseball Hall of Fame.
His stats, his spirit, and his example serve as a great inspiration for anyone who plays baseball or enjoys the game.
Please put Ron Santo in the Hall of Fame now, and enable him to enjoy it, and his fans to celebrate with him this long overdue honor.
Thank you!
I did marge simpson xxx together, ashton. Ex lax will you are.We lived. When her ass that rachel mcadams naked it on a date.
She got on thesofa, thats the cool air in fact, kelly brook naked but you.
What is going to take for baseball to recognize Ron Santo? Even if one is to fails in evaluating his numbers, the contributions of Santo to the game beyond the diamond are incalculable. His determination and character are the embodiment of baseball and the ideals that it professing to uphold as the essence of the game. Those that truly love baseball are grieved at the oversight and want it corrected. NOW.
Let Santo in…His numbers speak for themselves…If anyone deserves this well over due honor it is Santo!
I’m a Sox fan who grew up hating the Cubs, but Ron Santo was one of the 2 best 3rd basemen of his time and should be in the Hall of Fame. Switch teams with Santo and Brooks Robinson, and Santo would have been elected years ago. Compare the stats between the two of them.
I go all the way back to Roy Smalley Sr.; Dee Fonday, Hank Sauer, Ralph Kiner, etc. It’s a travesty not to have Ron in the Hall.
Put Ron Santo in!
Ron belongs amongst the best that baseball has to offer because I can honestly say that Ron Santo is the definition of what a hall of famer is. His stats aside, the respect and love of the game and years of service that he has brought this town, team and game nationwide should be enough alone. Not to mention the fact that he was a hall of fame caliber ball player. There is nobody out there who deserves it more than this man. Do the right thing and honor the career of a baseball legend.
Ron Santo was one of the best third basemen of his generation and deserves to join other Cubs from his time in the Hall. Cub and Santo fans everywhere support his ongoing candidacy to join Billy Williams and Ernie Banks among baseball’s elite.
Thank you for your consideration.
Ron should be in the Hall of Fame he was a great fielding third baseman and was very good hitter and a great team player.
Yes, he deserves it. How many other hall members played with diabetes?
Ronny should be in the hall no question one of the best 3rd basemen to play the game.
i think baseball fans allover the world want to see Ron in the baseball hall of fame
Ron you got my vote
As a 14 year old, all I have grown up with are steroid users and bad teams. However I have always had an interest in baseball history, and it’s obvious that Ron Santo not only should be a hall of famer, but should have been a first ballot electee. This is due to the classic Brooks Robinson debate. But beyond that, after his career as a player ended, Ron has done things that far surpass the things he did as a player. He does extensive work with diabetes charity, he is a fantastic broadcaster, and is a great person to everyone, but especially his fans.
Ron belongs in the Hall of Fame!!!
’m a phillies fan who grew up hating the Cubs, but Ron Santo was one of the 2 best 3rd basemen of his time and should be in the Hall of Fame. Switch teams with Santo and Brooks Robinson, and Santo would have been elected years ago. Compare the stats between the two of them.
Ron Santo not only put up impressive numbers, but did ir as a diabetic too. Whoever doesn’t vote for him is nuts.
Put Ron in!!! The guy should have been in years ago. Do the right thing!
Ron Santo absolutely deserves to be in the hall of fame. The stats speak for themselves and not to mention the fact that he played with diabetes. I just think of what he could of done had he been in perfect health. He could have let on that he had diabetes but given his personality and desire to be the best I believe that he wouldn’t have wanted anyone to treat him any different. He is already a hall of famer as far as I’m concerned but give him what he has earned and put him in the hall with all the Cub legends.
Santo should definitely be in the Hall. Look at the stats.
I feel that Ron Santo deserves to be in the hall of fame. The stats he put up in his career are on a par with the best of the other third basemen that are already in the hall. This in it self is a major accomplishment because he played his entire career while he suffered from type I diabetes. Something he kept secret for fear that baseball would not allow him to play if it was revealed. as a diabatic myself Ron has always been a possitive inspiration to me.
I grew up not far from Wrigley Field. As a pre-teen and teenager, my summers were spent mostly at Wrigley Field. At this time, in the 60′s, a fan was able to walk directly up to the players in the parking lot after the garm. I was blessed to have had my picture taken with Ron. He was an exciting player because he loved and still loves the game. To have endured the health problems he has, and still be so enthusiastic about your work, I am proud to be living in the same universe as Ron. I moved to San Antonio 10 years ago, but I get back to Chitown every year and spend lots of money to be able to attend a Cubbies game, and also to listen to Ron on the radio.
We should all be able to enjoy our “JOB” as much as he does. Vote Ron IN!!!!!
I come from a family of Cub fans, I grew up with the Hawk, Ryno, Sut, Wild Thing, & Zim. I did, however, hear all the old stories about Cubs past & Ronnie was one of my favorites. Now traveling between eastern Iowa and mid Missouri, Ron & Pat are what gets me through long trips. The vets committee needs to get him in before the broadcasters do, although both are a great honor, I feel the former would mean a great deal more to him. I suppose I could mention his career numbers, but they, like everything else Ron has accomplished throughout his life, speak for themselves.
Ron Santo should have been in years ago!! One of the greatest third basemen ever!! And a great person! We love you Ron!!!
I love Ron Santo! He is one of the best third basemen ever!! He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame!!
I think that Ron Santo is the greatest overall third baseman of all time. Every year that I don’t here his name it just makes me madder and madder. Those are my stances on the Ron Santo/Hall of Fame situation.
Ron Santo is more than just a mainstay in Chicago sports history, he is an icon. He is widely considered one of the the best, if not thee best 3rd basemen of all time. His numbers alone should grant him entry into the hall of fame without question. What would have been a 1st ballot HOF career was cut short by his type 1 diabetes. Even after the loss of BOTH of his legs, he still lives and breathes Chicago baseball by calling the games over the radio for all the North Side faithful. The man had is prosthetic legs made to look like his white and blue pinstripe Cubs uniform. Ron Santo is Chicago Cubs baseball and desirves his spot in the Hall for not only what he did on the field, but what he has meant to fans off the field as well.
santo not voted in has in my mind made fools of the ones who did not vote him in. this is a no brainer and santo should have been in along time ago!!! can anyone show me why santo isnt in hof?
Why is Ron Santo not in the Hall of Fame? He was a fantastic third basemen – both defensively and offensively.
Here’s his stats from Wikipedia:
Santo was nine-time National League All-Star, and led the league in walks four times, in on base percentage twice and in triples once.[1][7] He hit for a .300 average and hit 30 home runs four times each,[5] and is the only third baseman in major league history to post eight consecutive seasons with 90 (RBI) (1963-1970).[1][7] The winner of five consecutive Gold Glove Awards for fielding excellence (1964-1968),[12] he set or tied National League records by leading the league’s third basemen in total chances eight times, in games, putouts and assists seven times each, and in double plays six times;[5][7] from 1966 to 1974 he held the National League record for assists in a single season. He also set National League records for career assists (4,532), total chances (6,777) and double plays (389) at third base, all of which were eventually broken by Mike Schmidt between 1986 and 1988; his National League total of 2,102 games at third base fell 52 short of Eddie Mathews’ league record, and he then ranked sixth in National League history in putouts (1,930) and ninth in fielding percentage (.954).
Santo led the league in double plays six times (1961, ’64, ’66–’68, ’71), tying the major league record held by Heinie Groh;[7] Schmidt also later tied this record. He led the National League in total chances every season from 1961 through 1968.[7] He appeared at third base in every Cubs game from April 19, 1964 through May 31, 1966, establishing a league record with 364 consecutive games at the position;[5][7] his 164 games at third base in 1965 remain the major league record.
He was the second player at his position to hit 300 career home runs, joining Eddie Mathews, and also ended his career ranking second to Eddie Mathews among third basemen in slugging average (.464) and third in runs batted in (1,331), total bases (3,779) and walks (1,108). Santo broke Mathews’ National League record of 369 career double plays at third base in 1972, and in 1973 he broke Mathews’ league records of 4,284 assists and 6,606 total chances. Schmidt passed Santo’s record for double plays in 1986, his record for assists in 1987, and his mark for total chances in 1988. During his 14-season run with the Cubs, Santo hit 337 home runs, then the eighth most by a National League right-handed hitter; his 1,071 career walks with the Cubs remain the team record for a right-handed hitter. He was the first third baseman to hit 300 home runs and win five Gold Gloves, a feat since matched only by Schmidt.
I guess like all those from Chicago and fans of Chicago Cubs…we cannot understand why ron Santo is not in the hall of fame. What a terrific third baseman…and team player. What more could a team ask for?
Please consider Ron Santo!
So long over-due. Please give Ron Santo the honor he deserves
Let him in, in the name of all that’s holy. He has the stats, the support of his peers, and the love of generations of fans. He deserves his recognition while he is still here with us!
Well deserved a great ambassador to the game on and off the field. Best 3rd baseman of his era and has better stats then many players in the HALL. 20-11 enshrine Santo into baseball heaven.
He does not belong in the Hall of Fame; I explain why I believe so here.
Ron Santo deserves to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He is one of the true baseball greats of all time.
Please select him before he passes away and is elected after death.
This is his biggest goal in life now to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Please elect Ron to the hall of fame!! He was an amazing player and an amazing man! He is a great broadcaster. His love for the Cubs is like no other!!
Neglecting to include Ron Santo in the Hall of Fame is a terrible injustice to Ron and all baseball fans. Look at the record this man had while playing his entire major league career as a diabetic! I had the opportunity to follow Ron’s career with the Cubs from 1960 until he was traded in 1973 (a dark day in Cubs history). The man was a human vacuum cleaner at third base. His statistics are worthy of the Hall of Fame, and a great wrong needs to be corrected when the Veterans Committee votes again. Ron Santo belongs in the Hall of Fame.
Ron Santo should be elected to the hall of fame!!
Loved it, bookmarking it now.
Ron Santo is one of greatest baseball players of our time. He played with spirit and determination and achieved what he did without the use of steroids unlike alot of the players today. Please put Ron Santo in the baseball hall of fame.
Ron Santo needs to be in the Hall of Fame. He has earned it, many times over the years.
Ron Santo should be in the Hall Of Fame. Besides having what I consider to be stats great enough to qualify, He is an active ambassador for the Cubs and Baseball. The ERA he played in involved talent, not chemicals. Balls were not as lively as they are now and he still pulled out over 300 Home runs. Do the right thing. Induct Ron Santo into the Hall of Fame.
Has anyone tried picking up Susan Sarandon’s (Met 69er Robbins – Sarandon break-up) support? She could lead a rally, a march — somewhere, wherever need be.
Point I’m making is, let’s don’t be shy about thinking out of the box. Truth is we’ve been waiting a while, and if exploiting a divorce, a war widow, an orphan here and there can make a difference … Why not?
AS A 30 YEAR OLD LIFE LONG DIEHARD CUBBIE FAN ITS FRUSTRATING TO THINK SANTO MAY NOT MAKE IT IN IN HIS LIFE TIME.THIS WHOULD BE A SERIOUS INJUSTICE AND I WILL CONTINUE TO BE APPAULED UNTELL HIS RIGHTFULL INDUCTION I AM NOT A FAN OF MLB OR THE ONES RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS TOTAL LACK OF JUSTICE WRITERS ARE GIVEN POWER THEY DONT DESERVE,THIS MUST CHANGE! BEFORE ITS TOO LATE; GOD FORBID.
It is very simple. If Ron Santo is not in the Hall Of Fame, then close the doors. You are no longer relevant to the game of baseball. If the members of the veterans committee choose to not vogte him in, it is because they do not want anyone else in the Hall now that they have made it. Shameful!
Ronnie was my hero as a kid growing up,when ever i played ball, the other guys called me santo.I copied his stance, the way he ran, everything. Its an abomination for him not to be in the Hall!!!! Rons numbers were overall better than brooks robinson, his main competitor at 3rd base in his era,i cant see why he hasnt been voted in a long time ago.Cmon veterans commitee, finally do wha ts only right and take care of this matter,oh and bert blylevin also needs to be in!!!
Ron Santo belongs in the Hall of Fame. Peroid. He belongs there now – while he can enjoy it. It’s a disgrace that the Veteran Committee is keeping him out – most of them can’t hold his jock strap. With the kind of gentleman Ron Santo is – this is the time he should be enjoying the distinction of being a HOFer. Though voting for the Hall is rightfully confined to the player’s service time, Ronny has given his life to baseball. Not walked away from it to enjoy the leisure life his money can buy him. How may others have dedicated their lives to the game? Damn few. Ron Santo belongs in the Hall if anyone does. Until his plaque is on the wall, I won’t ever visit the HOF again.
MY BIGGEST FEAR IS THAT RONNIE WILL BE INDUCTED AFTER HIS PASSING AWAY.IF THAT WERE TO HAPPEN I WILL BOYCOTT THE HOF AND GET AS MANY PEOPLE TO DO THE SAME,SANTO IS A LEGEND IN CHICAGO AND WELL KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE BASEBALL WORLD.WAS HE THAT BIG AN ASS TOWARDS REPORTERS DURRING HIS CAREER?IN MY OPINION HE IS A HALL OF FAMER.GET OF YOUR DUFFS AND MAKE IT OFFICIAL.
