Is There A Way To Lower My Risk Of Getting Type 1 Diabetes?

I know it's not necessarily hereditary, but my grandma has type 1 diabetes. I'm 17 and know I could still potentially get it in the next few years. I eat pretty healthy and exercise at least an hour a day.

Ignore the above two answers. They are fools.
Diabetes type 1 is an autoimmune disease.
That means nothing can prevent it unfortunately.
Type 2 can be prevented by healthy eating and exercise
Yes you can get type 1 into your forties but not much older usually. Many newly diagnosed type 1’s are in their teens. No you are not born with.
You are born with a high likelyhood of getting it

If you are going to get type 1 diabetes then you would be born with it. If you get diabetes at age 17 then it will be type 2. You can prevent type 2 by eating the right foods in the right portions.

Type 1 is a genetic disease and is not preventable, but Type 2 is very preventable with diet and exercise

Type 1: Nothing. it is autoimmune so you can’t do anything..
Type 2: Keep your weight down, exercise and do not eat large amounts of sugar and carbs.
hope i answered your question correctly!
