Wow, each of us is entitled to their opinion. And you are entitled to your Bad one too!!

Krukow and Kuiper are such a great combo in San Francisco. They epitomize the classic line of Scully's... That Baseball is a Saturday afternoon conversation... They banter back and forth while maintaining a true love for the game. They give a spirited call of the game even when the opposition hits one "Out-Uh-Here".

Krukow has the same "homer" feel that Santo has but still brings the game through the radio or TV so that you are there.

You might want to give another listen.. And don't use your "Bad" ear...

The best baseball announce is Ron Santo. It's his passion, not his skill that makes Ronnie so good.

Georgie, uh, I mean Gene, this is getting out of hand! Either accept my offer to do the games or I give the job to Ozzie Smith, whom you haven't mentioned and is a pretty good commentator!

The current trend is needing someone that looks good on camera, politically correct and speaks with little or no accent. The idea is to fill in the dead time between pitches and commercials. The media hires a consulting firm to figure out demographics of the audience, yada yada yada ad nausium.
In my humble opinion,a good announcer must:
*above all else, must have a love for the game.
* You can tell by listening to him that he is a big fan
* for the players and not be a disinterested bystander that can read stats from a book.
* Personality is more important than proper grammar.
Everyone knows the guy that sits at home with a beer in one hand, munching on snacks and talks to the TV as the game is in progress as if they could here him in the stadium. The good announcers should be able to demonstrate that same passion on camera, (beer optional).

all were former players who did't prepare for announcing. They need more people like Vin Scully.
