out because of the reserve clause, which eventually led to Free Agency, so the players nowadays should thank him for their 300 million dollar contracts. He was one heck of a ball player. He played in a total of 15 seasons between 1956-1971, but he played the lionshare of his career in 12 seasons from 1958-1969 with the St. Louis Cardinals. Flood had 1,861 hits, and batted .293. I know that a lot more players are more deserving to get into the Hall on the Vet Committe votes, like Ron Santo, Bert Blyleven, Tommy John, Jim Kaat, etc, but Flood deserves another look, don’t you agree?http://www.baseball-reference.com/f/floo…
No way, his career stats don’t even remotely make him HOF eligible.
No. No way does Curt Flood belong in the Hall. His numbers are average at best. If Flood got in, they’d have to open the floodgates….no pun intended. That would cause huge problems.
IF his career was cut short by his own doing, why does he deserve to be in the Hall? His stats aren’t remotely Hall worthy. You let him in, you open the floodgates for a ton of players who aren’t worthy but cut their careers short “because of their own doing.” He is not remotely a HOFer.
