He didn’t throw any games or do anything outrageous.

He was a good to decent player, and a terrible announcer. Sorry, i just don’t like his style. Him getting in would be like a player of the same caliber as Orlando Cabrera getting in.

I don’t know why he hasn’t been in, but there have been comments on whether or not he deserves to get into the Hall of Fame, and not everybody shares the same opinon. They take a lot at his basbeall carrer, and he hadn’t hit as many home runs, as other players do. And I don’t know why the writers kept passing him by. But now the only way that he can get into Baseball’s Hall of Fame, is through the Veterans’ Committee, and so far they have failed to elect anybody to the Hall of Fame. So there could be a possiblty that he doesn’t get in, until after he dies. I can’t say that for sure, and these 2 years of long waiting, only for it not to happen is a killer.

Borderline stats, on a team that never won. Getting some sentimental votes, might make it after he dies.

Who needs it? He’s forever treasured at Wrigley.
Sadly, he’ll probably be inducted after he passes away. At least he’ll know he was loved in Chicago.

Your question is discussed in my new book on the Hall of Fame, Cooperstown Confidential.
I think you are right about Santo, and some others are in the same boat.
