Look at his stats…http://www.baseball-reference.com/s/sant…
I gaurentee you, if he had played his career with the Yankees instead of the Cubs, he would have been in the HOF years ago.

Ask anyone who knows about baseball (Cubs fan or not) and they will agree Ron Santo is the best player not in the Hall of Fame.

  2. KStateRG says:

    i agree; he is outstanding

  3. Think Dodger Blue says:

There are plenty of players who should be in the hall of fame that aren’t. Among others Pete Rose and Don Newcombe

  4. jeremy_h says:

He’s one of those players who was always above-average but never outstanding. He never hit any of the big milestone numbers (3000 hits, lifetime .300 avg, 500 HR, etc.), never led the league in any of the major stats categories, and he played 3B, where defensive prowess (his 5 Gold Gloves) isn’t enough to push a guy’s consideration past the tipping point. Overall a great player, but he was never overwhelming and the voters thus tend to forget him.

If he gets in, it will probably be the veterans committee that will get him in.

I agree but with the Cubs he still was good. He should be in the Hall OF Fame in 07.
