Diabetes the real culprit keeping Santo out of Hall of Fame. Santo was forced into early retirement due to diabetes. At the age of 33 Santo played in more games at third base than anyone in Major Leauge Baseball History and his last season as a Cub before being traded to Chicago White Sox then retiring at the age of 34.Third base is the toughest position in all of baseball to get in the Hall of Fame. One shoudnt compare outfielders and third basemen nomore than comparing outfielders stats to catchers.By comparing third basemen to themselves Santo easily qualifies for the Hall of Fame.At the age of 33 only Eddie Mathews and Mike Schmidt had more Home Runs. Santo had 1290 RBIs at 33 Mathews 1335.
